Winter ices fire
in this midnight garden
where you left
me waiting in the haze
of a bucolic frost
It etches crystals
and invades my brea-
-thing streams
(There’s cramping)
But it seems …
Winter’s glance is bare
She whispers every-
-where through
twisters in this maze
With promises sublime
she sends my sighs
on down the wire
and I hope they’ll
stay away

Thank you so much. I really felt those emotions in early winter. Luckily, I was not badly hurt.

I absolutely love your poetry. 🙂 I even got inspired to try and write some (I gave up on poetry 20 years ago)… I squeezed out of myself one piece a few months ago and I’ve been polishing it ever since … maybe it would fit my dark valentine.

Dark Valentine makes me think of lace, opera gloves and chocolate. Surely you will do an awesome job at polishing, Lola. Will be there to read it if you decide to publish. Thank you also for your kind words.

Thank you so much. Winter in the soul can be quite harsh but I believe the cold freezes out some of the unwanted emotions.

What an interesting way to look at it SB. Do they thaw out when they are useful once again?

Actually, I think they might be muted once reanimated.

That is lovely of you to say, Melanie. He found the woods lovely, and I did, too, even though my soul was a bit frozen.

So creative! I have to laugh because when it is that cold out here I start the car and run back inside until the windows have defrosted! Nice!

Thank you so much. I was in the back seat of the car. A friend was driving us home from a seminar. It was -20 outside and very warm in the car so the air sort of froze on the glass. I saw an opportunity and took it. But trust me I know about the defrosting. Everything takes extra time in winter. But the days are shorter. Ugh!!

Beautiful! I enjoyed spending some time in your wintry world this morning… Especially since it’s been unusually mild where I am this year! Stay toasty 😀

You are very lucky. It was up to my knees this morning. Overnight only. It’s a nightmare because it looks very nice until you have to shovel it.

Indeed it feels so good to have the sun shine all through out the year; but wouldn’t it be fun to play with a little snow sometime? Just a whimsical thought

It’s a great thought. If you were me, you would have been rolling around in it (not on purpose) on the way to work. Thanks again for the warm greetings. xo

This is gorgeous poetry. I love your description of winter and your use of bucolic to describe frost. We are in the throes of winter here and, though I have not been a fan of the season for years, I am oddly enjoying it. There is something invigorating about breathing in a lung full of icy air. Love the image as well. /had started to do the same thing about a week ago while getting ready to leave for work but I ran out of space on the window and was too lazy to start over 🙂

That would make for a great mural. I used to take photos of the windows at work when people would scribble on them. I am glad you’re enjoying winter. It might have to do with the warm atmosphere in your home. xo

Yes, it would. I look forward to seeing your mural on display 🙂 I am and perhaps you are right 😀 😀 xo

Thank you, GH. I didn’t take my fancy camera with me and was basically not outside much during that trip. I managed to take a few with my phone. This is one that I shared privately with a few people. You might have to visit the post page to see it.

Beautiful writing as always, not to mention outstanding finger cursive. 🙂

Thank you so much. It was great to be able to be a passenger and look out at the snowy vista. When you’re driving you don’t get to enjoy it as much. It was all white. The mountainside, the trees, the air, and especially not having to shovel anything.
