Frost

Frost

Winter ices fire
in this midnight garden
where you left
me waiting in the haze
of a bucolic frost

It etches crystals
and invades my brea-
-thing streams
(There’s cramping)
But it seems …

Winter’s glance is bare
She whispers every-
-where through
twisters in this maze
With promises sublime
she sends my sighs
on down the wire
and I hope they’ll
stay away

I absolutely love your poetry. 🙂 I even got inspired to try and write some (I gave up on poetry 20 years ago)… I squeezed out of myself one piece a few months ago and I’ve been polishing it ever since … maybe it would fit my dark valentine.

Dark Valentine makes me think of lace, opera gloves and chocolate. Surely you will do an awesome job at polishing, Lola. Will be there to read it if you decide to publish. Thank you also for your kind words.

thank you for recently liking a number of my posts…and affording me the opportunity to find your blog, which I have been enjoying — this poem is lovely, evocative, and the photo adds a great touch. I’ll keep reading…and again, thank you!

Thank you so much. I was in the back seat of the car. A friend was driving us home from a seminar. It was -20 outside and very warm in the car so the air sort of froze on the glass. I saw an opportunity and took it. But trust me I know about the defrosting. Everything takes extra time in winter. But the days are shorter. Ugh!!

This is gorgeous poetry. I love your description of winter and your use of bucolic to describe frost. We are in the throes of winter here and, though I have not been a fan of the season for years, I am oddly enjoying it. There is something invigorating about breathing in a lung full of icy air. Love the image as well. /had started to do the same thing about a week ago while getting ready to leave for work but I ran out of space on the window and was too lazy to start over 🙂

That would make for a great mural. I used to take photos of the windows at work when people would scribble on them. I am glad you’re enjoying winter. It might have to do with the warm atmosphere in your home. xo

Thank you, GH. I didn’t take my fancy camera with me and was basically not outside much during that trip. I managed to take a few with my phone. This is one that I shared privately with a few people. You might have to visit the post page to see it.

Thank you so much. It was great to be able to be a passenger and look out at the snowy vista. When you’re driving you don’t get to enjoy it as much. It was all white. The mountainside, the trees, the air, and especially not having to shovel anything.
