Loud expatriate talking loudly to his date (20 ft away)

Don’t. Be. Shy. If I’m ready to go … and it’s too early for you … Don’t be shy. It’s OK. I’ll shop and …

Spearmint Notes
I felt compelled to transcribe this after the volume of the man’s voice interfered with me. This happened one Friday night at the book store. There was elevator music in the background. The ceilings reached to infinity and the floor space is open. That and forty plus simultaneous conversations did not drown him out. When I couldn’t find any music to block him (Rammstein couldn’t even), I stopped reading and started transcribing. At 23.00, on my way out, I walked by him talking LOUDLY in another part of the store. Oi.

PS: I’m not the date police but, dude, did you take the woman on a date to a location where people are lolling about in their pajamas, so you could advertise that you were on a date?

Update @ 13:48: The Beleauguered Servant was sweet enough to complete the conversation so please read it. It’s hilarious.

Thank you for viewing “June.” I can relate to this post because I too have come across people who talk loudly to another person in a public place. They are distracting. Another related situation that I do not enjoy is overhearing people talking loudly while on a cell phone, especially if they are angry and are using foul language.

Thank you so much for sharing. Expatriates are particularly annoying because there’s always a competition in conversation and they mean for others to hear them. Have a great weekend.

You are welcome. 🙂 The vanity and showing off do make the loud talking more irritating. I hope that you do not have to encounter these annoying people on a regular basis.

I also hope that you have a great weekend. 🙂

You are welcome. I know it is not always possible, but it is a good idea to avoid them if you can. Last week I was so frustrated and tired because I kept encountering annoying people almost everywhere I went. Negative and inconsiderate people are such a distraction, and they waste your time and energy. 😦

I hope that you stay well too. Take care. 🙂

Woah, I really dislike people who speak loudly but I guess that can’t be helped. The echoing must have been really bad. I would have been pretty irked if I were in your place. Bookstores aren’t coffee shops.

I didn’t even mind lots of people speaking at the same time, but it was super over the top. It was the definition of interference. Thank you for reading.

It’s been years now but my sister and I would play this game where we would ‘dub’ in the conversations people were having at tables far out of earshot. I dare say our versions were so much more exciting and fanciful than reality. But it was oh so much fun. This post took me back to then (and I miss my sister) – we would have had such naughty/silly fill ins for the missing bits. I love what Owen did with it too 🙂

Thanks so much for reading it. Dubbing and people watching are cool activities. I’m glad it brought back fond memories of your sister. I am very close to mine as well.

For real, Bill. I’ve seen loads more maturity in high school boys. He came all the way over here to act like everyone’s perception of outsiders: low IQ, ill mannered spoiled childlike hand puppets. They act like that on TV, too. Instead of learning to speak the language, they feel that speaking very loudly they’ll be better understood. I can’t even…

Thank you for reading. I have two phones and I never answer them, which discourages people from calling in the first place. There’s something to be said for being discreet and personal, especially when courting.

You are the witness to this tragic event. We were talking when this happened, live. Thank you Nidhi. I wasn’t sure I would post this but … Fun times! One of my readers finished it. It was hilarious.

It was horrible. We commented on single bush or plural bush and mother goddesses with trees needing to be whacked because this is not Brazil. HB and I went to that awful place, in public. I have also created a new phrase called, “muck nana”. That’s for tangled trees. Too awful.

That’s just very sad and pathetic. It amazes me how far people would go just to show off. The girl must have been very embarrassed (well, unless if she’s head over heels for him…)

It’s that bad, huh?…

Btw., I personally think of people who talk too loudly as very annoying and obnoxious, especially if they just talk about their greatness, while belittling others at the same time.

There’s just too many people like that…
