Before the war

Once so close and yet so far
Heads up you’ll see the door’s ajar
Where empty trough
The search for meaning
Again the proof
You’re backward leaning

Turned away by rays of light
Morbid distress
No will to fight
Malaise:
In anger admit defeat
First they fall
Then retreat

Angst, the rouge in Antebellum
Brought down, the despised
spew
forth
venom

Thank you so much for your support, Amina. I’m finding out for myself that poetry summarises one thousand truths in a few well placed phrases.

You’re really so kind and encouraging. Thank you because this is unchartered territory for me and I have to constantly ask myself what I’m doing. Not that anything compares to you, Amina. x

Thank you for your kind words, Sabiscuit.
My advice: keep writing! Poetry may be an unfamiliar territory but the result is great 😉
